The small print, kindly meant

Privacy

This is a small family website about restoring Pengilfach Cottages. We don’t run a business through it, we don’t sell anything, and we’ve tried to keep it as light-touch and private as a website can be. This page explains, plainly, what little information the site handles and who else can see it.

We don’t use cookies or tracking

The site sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing on your device. There are no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking pixels of any kind — so there’s no consent banner to click through. We simply don’t watch who visits.

The mailing list

If you choose to join the Friends of Pengilfach, you give us your email address, and only that. It’s used solely to send the occasional letter from the cottages, and never shared or sold. The sign-up and the list are handled on our behalf by Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), whose own privacy terms apply to the sign-up form; you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by writing to us. If you’d like us to remove your address, just ask and we will.

Things the site loads from elsewhere

To keep the site simple we let a few trusted third parties serve small pieces of it. When your browser fetches these, it necessarily shares your IP address with them, in the ordinary way the web works:

We don’t receive or store any of this ourselves, and none of it is used to identify or follow you.

Photographs

The photographs on the site have had their embedded data (such as camera details and location) stripped, and carry only a copyright notice. If you appear in a picture and would rather not, please tell us and we’ll take it down.

Your rights, and getting in touch

Under UK data-protection law you can ask what information we hold about you (in practice, only your email if you’ve joined the list), ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its use. We’ll always try to put things right ourselves first; if you’re ever unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can also contact the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

For anything at all about privacy, write to hello@pengilfach.co.uk and we’ll answer as best we can.
